Learn English in Malta

With its sunny Mediterranean climate, its buzzing nightlife and more than 7000 years of history, Malta is one of the most attractive destinations for tourists who want to learn English during their holidays. The tourist centres of Sliema and St Julian's offer a great choice of fine restaurants, souvenir shops, classy boutiques and lively bars.
The clear blue waters of the Mediterranean and the unspoilt coastlines of Malta with their sandy and rocky beaches boast ideal conditions for swimming, sunbathing and water sports such as scuba diving, sailing and windsurfing. Malta is a great site for beginner divers, but also offers quite a few diving sites of archeological and historical interest for experienced divers to explore, such as ship and aeroplane wrecks from World War II and remains from the Roman era.
The Maltese culture has been influenced by the variety of occupants of the island throughout history to be the unique mixture it presents today. During ancient times, Malta was ruled by Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Byzantines, and until 1964, by Great Britain . It is due to the colonial rule of Britain that Malta is now one of the most popular countries for students to learn English, since English is one of Malta's official languages (along with Maltese) and widely spoken throughout the island.

The capital city of Valletta, originally built as a fortress, offers a wealth of cultural and historical treasures, among them many baroque buildings and the palace of the Grand Master of the order of St. John and St. John's co-Cathedral, that houses art by Caravaggio, among others. The "silent city" of Mdina, where St. Paul is said to have lived during his stay in Malta, offers you a true insight into the history of Malta with its timeless atmosphere and unspoilt character.
The landscape around Valletta is dotted with some of the oldest human structures known, dating back to Neolithic times. The most renowned among them is the hypogeum at Hal Saflieni, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, however there are also many other sites such as the megalithic temples in Tarxien. If you plan on visiting those sites, we recommend booking before you come to Malta to learn English, as tours are often fully booked for weeks in advance.
